READ 'EM AND LEARN
Reading a book is a great way to learn at your own pace. A good book can teach you something new, and can also act as a reference that you return to again and again.
Personally, I enjoy writing about technology because it allows me to be creative with words, and it also forces me to formulate my approach to teaching (having a great editor helps too). What doesn't make it into my books ends up on the Real World Illustrator Blog, or the Mordy.com blog.
Here's a list of books that I've written:
- Real World Adobe Illustrator CS4
- Real World Adobe Illustrator CS3
- Real World Adobe Illustrator CS2
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Creative Suite 3 All in One
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Creative Suite 2 All in One
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Creative Suite All in One
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Illustrator 10
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Illustrator 9
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Illustrator 8
- SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Illustrator 7
- The Web Designer's Guide to Color
As a writer, one of the books that has had the greatest impact on my own reading and writing is On Writing, by Stephen King, where he makes the point that authors need to read. Personally, I'm fascinated by biographies and history.
